Song Writer and a Musician
Grant Pierre is a song writer and a musician and his albums have sold millions. Grant's lyrics have been commended for supporting poor people to be strong and to stand up for them. Grant Pierre was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on August 5, 1985 but moved to the Philippines after graduating high school . His mother died when he was 18 years old in a car accident and his father is a taxi driver. He has a brother and was a part-time waiter in a restaurant to help his father feed the family. After Grant graduated high school, he went to the Philippines and lived there but he didn't go to school and had a part-time job to help his Dad. After years of hard work, Grant finally had the courage to pursue his dreams of becoming a musician. He moved to New York in 2005 and he was discovered later on by a famous singer 'Bruno Mars' in a studio that he was working at. He was Bruno Mars's song writer for years and making a name for himself.
Then in 2008, Phoenix Records, the label that signed Bruno Mars, decided to Grant a chance as a singer/song writer. The company already knew that Grant is a very talented person. Grant signed a record deal that year and began recording in a studio. On the way home from a recording session in New York, Grant was involved in a head-on car collision with a drunk driver that left him with a broken ribs and a big on his back. He endured months of recovery but that didn't stop Grant from moving forward with the album. Grant returned to the recording studio to sing on a regular basis and finished his album that was released in the end of 2009. The album itself went multiplatinum, selling 3 million copies.
Grant won three Billboard Music Awards in 2010, Male New Artist of the Year, Song writer of the Year and Best Album of the Year.
